According to two recent reports, Apple is finally going to reveal deeper integration between iOS 6 with Facebook and other apps in the same way it presently does with Twitter.
AllThingsD’s Kara Swisher reports hearing that Facebook executives is expecting the declaration to be made at Apple’s Worldwide Developer’s Conference(WWDC) this month. In fact, the executives hope that this declaration offers Facebook with some required positive press in the wake of the IPO disaster.
Swisher reports “Sources said execs there hope that a successful [patent] settlement with Yahoo — as well as an expected announcement of an integration with Apple’s iOS at the Worldwide Developers Conference in mid-June — will return the focus to forward momentum by Facebook,”.
In tha same way, MG Siegler also reported hearing on Friday that Facebook and Apple had finally agreed to join forces on the deeper integration and would reveal it at WWDC this month. Although, he noted that things could alter between them now and then.
“It’s important to note that Apple being Apple, something could change in the next week and a half,” he wrote. “But as of now, Facebook is a go in iOS ‘Sundance’.”
It seems that there are very less chances that the deal would fall through now though. According to The AllThingsD article, Facebook is eager to see this partnership happen between them to assist in shifting attention away from its IPO. At the same time, Apple’s CEO has already given strong hints that Facebook integration is coming soon, so it would be very surprising to see if Apple cancels this integration with Facebook before WWDC.
