Google, most popular search engine worldwide has bought an ontario-based BufferBox, a parcel-delivery service which is used to transport e-commerce products to physical stands.
Terms and conditions of the deal were not revealed by Google Inc. BufferBox, which was founded in Waterloo, Ontario, facilitates online buyers to pick up their parcels from grocery shop and convenience stores are available 24×7 in Toronto,Canada.
“We want to remove as much friction as possible from the shopping experience, while helping consumers save time and money, and we think the BufferBox team has a lot of great ideas around how to do that,” Mountain View, California-based Google said in an e-mailed statement without elaborating further.
Google has taken a step forward in e-commerce after declaring a few months back that it would transform its product- search feature to a paid commercial model in the U.S. and Canada, which requires vendors to buy space on its newly launched Google Shopping service. Last month only, Google has introduced some new features to its shopping service, which includes improved images of some toys and a new method to accumulate various shopping lists in its shopping service.
Google’s share rose less than 1 percent to $698.37 at the close in New York. Although, value of its shares have increased by 8.1 percent this year.
BufferBox will keep wordking as usual for its current customers, the company has written in its official blog. Aditya Bali, co-founder of BufferBox, said in August in a statement that his company was in talks with some top-tier capital firms of the US to raise the funds which could assist them to make their ecommerce services better and faster”.
“As online shopping becomes a bigger part of how you buy products, we look forward to playing a part in bringing that experience to the next level,” the company said in the blog.
